Telecom universal service paved information superhighway for rural areas

为了解决贫困山区和偏远地区行政村老百姓通信难的问题,自2015年起,工业和信息化部、财政部两部委联合开展电信普遍服务试点工作,累计支持全国13万个行政村光纤网络建设和升级改造,以及超过6万个农村4G基站建设,推动我国农村及偏远地区,特别是贫困地区信息基础设施水平大幅提升,城乡“数字鸿沟”显著缩小。

To resolve the lack of access to communication services in administrative villages in poor mountainous and remote areas,the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Finance jointly launch a series of telecom universal service pilot projects since 2015,which have supported the constructions of fiber optic broadband networks in almost 130,000 administrative villages and more than 60,0004G base stations in rural areas.These pilot projects significantly improve the constructions of information infrastructure in remote areas of China,especially in the rural impoverished areas,and dramatically reduce the“Digital Divide”between urban and rural areas.
