凯文·杨是美国当代著名非裔诗人、人文与科学院院士,同时也是著名的诗歌编撰家和评论家。他的诗歌以黑人文化为根本,坚持诗歌与其它艺术形式之间的双重对话,大胆地进行诗歌艺术实验,将爵士乐、布鲁斯、涂鸦、黑色电影等融入诗歌中,始终保持着开放性、杂糅性和试验性的写作风格。同时,杨以现代视野来重新发掘非裔民族的历史与文化。他对于特定非裔历史的书写,以及个人经验与情感的表达,都体现了其个性化的历史意识。
Kevin Young is a leading contemporary American poet,fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences,and major poetry editor and critic.As a poet,Young insists on the dialogue between poetry and other forms of mass culture.His artistic experiment in poetry,deeply rooted in African American culture,has integrated the stylistic elements of jazz,the blues,graffiti paintings and film noir into poems,and therefore,is characterized by being highly open,hybrid and revolutionary.By rewriting particular African American history,and by presenting complex issues and emotions in poetic form,Young tries to explore the African American history,both public and personal,in a new way,which shows his acute sense of history.
