发表于1947年12月8日的天津《大公报》的梁思成文章《建筑市镇设计的新观点》不见于今天大多数有关他的研究。这是他在1947年访美归国后有关自己考察体验和感想的第一次公开演讲,其中介绍了他对西方现代建筑和城市设计新发展的四点认识,概括而言就是以服务大众的社会生活为设计的目标,以空间为建筑的本质,以建筑与自然的结合为理想的环境,以霍华德田园城市主张为去中心化市镇设计的新模式。这篇文章反映了美国对于梁思成建筑思想发展的新影响。

Published in Ta Kung Pao of Tianjin on December 8,1947,On New Thoughts About Architectural and Urban Design by Liang Ssu-cheng has remained largely unknown to most researches on him today.Liang’s article was the transcript of his first talk to the Chinese peers after his visit to the United States in 1947.As it is summarized in this introduction,Liang shared with his audience four observations on the development of architectural and urban design in the West.They are taking the social improvement as the goal of design,considering space as the essence of architecture,regarding the combination of architecture with nature as the ideal environment,and following the Howardian idea of garden city as the new model for the design of decentralized cities.This article reflects the new influence of America on the development of Liang’s architectural thinking.
