An Analysis on the Possibility of the End of“Thucydides Trap”Based on the Perspective of China’s Peaceful Rising

“修昔底德陷阱”是近代处理大国关系难以破解的问题。近年来,西方主流媒体对中国外交政策的负面性和曲解性解读明显增加,常将“修昔底德陷阱”套用在中美关系上,反复强调大国之间围绕利益的争夺,会不可避免地导致世界性的战争。中国始终秉承和平崛起的发展战略。在中华传统“和文化”的长期涵养和社会主义制度和平使命的内在驱动下,兼受全球化、多极化、民主化等外在制约力的综合作用,在社会主义的中国“修昔底德陷阱”必将终结。

“Thucydides Trap”is a difficult problem in dealing with the relations between great powers in modern times.In recent years,the negative and misinterpreted interpretation of China’s foreign policy by the western mainstream media has increased significantly.They often apply the“Thucydides Trap”to Sino-US relations,and repeatedly emphasize that the world war will inevitably occur around the competition for the interests among major powers.China has always adhered to the development strategy of peaceful rising.Influenced by long-term cultivation of Chinese traditional“harmony culture”,driven by the internal force of the peaceful mission of the socialist system and by the comprehensive effect of the external constraints of globalization,multipolarization and democratization,the“Thucydides Trap”will come to an end in socialist China.
