The Influences of New Technology on Autonomy in Language Learning and Coping Strategies

新技术使语言学习者拥有了更为丰富的目标语学习及使用途径,并对经典的学习者自主性产生了重要的影响。文章从突显学习者自主性的多维性、语言学习生态系统的重要性以及课堂外非正式语言学习的必要性等三方面论述了新技术给语言学习自主性所带来的影响。在此基础上提出研究者应冷静地反思技术潜能及其与自主性的关系、语言学习者应积极地为利用技术提升自主性做好准备、语言教师应主动地为利用技术提升自主性提供支持等应对策略。

New technology provides more possibilities for language learners to learn and use target language and it also has important impacts on the classical understanding of learner autonomy.This paper discusses the influences of new technology on learner autonomy from three aspects:(1)by highlighting the multidimensional nature of leaner autonomy;(2)by highlighting the importance of language learning ecology;(3)by highlighting the necessity of informal language learning outside the classroom.Furthermore,it puts forward strategies to cope with the influences:researchers should reflect on the technological potentials and the relationship with autonomy,learners should get well-prepared to enhance leaner autonomy by the application of technology and teachers should provide corresponding supports.
