Cave burial was once one of the main forms of burial for the Miao people. As early as the 8th century in Tang Dynasty, the“coffin cave”located in Qibo Town,Pingba of central Guizhou Province, started to become a burial place, and this custom has since continued in the following 1300 years.Among the unearthed burial objects from the“coffin cave”is a very exquisite batik pleated skirt with heron pattern from Song Dynasty. The“coffin cave”embodies a kind of collective longing for their homeland of the Miao compatriots in central Guizhou Province.
