A Re-study of Butterfly Effect in Social History of Textile Technology

[研究意义]文章对2011年发表的"纺织技术社会史中的‘蝴蝶效应’举隅"一文中的例子进行补隅。[研究方法和结论]通过文献研究,认为:①楚吴桑女之争、百工暴动说明纺织可引发战争。②罗马帝国的军队因为帕提亚军队的丝绸军旗迎风飘扬而被打败,说明丝绸决定了一场战争的胜负。③管仲的"丝绸之战"导致鲁国来服,罗马帝国的灭亡与丝绸贸易有着密切的关系,惠特尼发明的轧棉机使美国奴隶制的罪恶死灰复燃,这些例子都说明了纺织可改变国运民生。

The article complements some examples to the article"A Study of Butterfly Effect in Social History of Textile Technology"published in 2011.Through literature research,this article holds that textile can lead to the wars according to two stories(The Quarrel of the Girl Picking the Mulberry Leaves and The Riots of Craftmen),The army of the Roman Empire was defeated because the silk flag of the Patthian army flew in the wind,indicating that the silk decided the outcome of a war.Kuan Chung’s"Silk War"led to the obeisance of Lu State,and the collapse of the Roman Empire was closely related to the silk trade.The cotton gin invented by Whitney revived the sin of American slavery.These examples show that textile could play crucial roles in changing the national fate and people’s livelihood.
