中央文献翻译中的理解与表达——《求是》英译札记

Comprehension and Expression:Translating Qiushi Articles into English

翻译是正确理解原文和准确再现原文的动态过程,其中理解和表达是翻译的两个主要阶段。理解与表达相互制约、相互促进,两者是辩证统一的关系,构成了翻译的主要矛盾。正确处理理解和表达的关系是提高译文质量,提升译文传播效果的必然要求。本文以《求是》的英译为例,从译者的翻译实践出发,通过总结和梳理理解中的难点和表达中的策略,探究在中央文献翻译中正确处理两者关系的途径和方法。

Translation is a dynamic process of the correct comprehension of the original text and the accurate rendering of it.Thus,comprehension and expression make up the two main stages of translation.Comprehension and expression restrict and promote each other.The two have a dialectical relationship and constitute the main contradiction in translation.It is a prerequisite to deal properly with the two before the proper effect of communication can be achieved.By analyzing some cases in translating Qiushi articles,this thesis categorizes the comprehension hurdles and expression strategies from the author’s experience and explores the correct ways to cope with the relationship between comprehension and expression.
