Shakya Yeshe,the Great Compassion Dharmaraja,was born and grew up in Lhasa.Since the disintegration of Tubo,his ancestors,particularly the Drakpa family had been contributing to the administration of Lhasa-dredging waterways,solidifying dams,renovating temples and maintaining order.
