Expressing Worry About Current Affairs with Poems:A Brief Discussion onWu Xiaosheng’s Xiaoyin Works

吴笑生《笑吟集》成于抗战期间,内容多为乱离之声,比照集名,可谓“名不副实”。之所以如此,与得名于作者姓名及其身为基督教徒的人生态度有关。他的诗词不仅是悲国伐敌之歌,也是战争流亡之歌,具备诗史性质。

Wu Xiaosheng’s collection of poems called Xiaoyin was created during the Anti-Japanese War.Compared with the collection name,its content is mostly about the war which can be described as misnamed.The reason for this is related to the author’s name and his attitude towards life as a Christian.His poems which have the nature of poetic history are not only the songs of mourning the country and conquering the enemy,but also the songs of exile.
