The Concept, Orientation and Subjects of Yellow River Archaeology

黄河考古是以黄河为标靶的考古工作与研究,主要利用考古材料和使用考古学方法对人类出现以来黄河自身的变迁及其与人类的互动进行研究,因此可以说是传统考古、黄河历史和地质考古的交叉学科。黄河考古的主要课题有黄河下游的河道与堤防、黄河航运与津渡及黄河泛滥的文化遗存等。

Yellow River Archaeology is centered on the Yellow River and makes use of archaeological evidence and archaeological methodologies to examine how the Yellow River itself has changed and its interaction with human beings ever since the emergence of mankind on the earth.Therefore,it can be said that Yellow River Archaeology is a cross-discipline consisting of general archaeology,the study of the Yellow River’s history and geological archaeology.Major subjects of Yellow River Archaeology are river courses and embankments in the lower reaches of the Yellow River,shipping and ferry crossings on the Yellow River,and cultural relics left after the Yellow River flooded.
