On July 16,2021.a symposium on“Review and Prospect on the First Anniversary of the Implementation of the National Security Law in Hong Kong”was held in Beijing.Xia Baolong,Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council,attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech(see below for the full text).According to Xia Baolong,in General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the CPC centenary ceremony,Xi reiterated the firm position in fully and accurately implementing the“one country,two systems”policy,and emphasized the need to implement the central government's overall jurisdiction over Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
