In the 1930s,Zhang Haiqiu was one of the most representative scholars in the study of Bai language among native speakers.This paper summarizes his contributions to the study of Bai language based on his works.Zhang Haiqiu was a pioneer in the study of the history of Bai language in modern times and was one of the most representative scholars of Bai language at that time.He studied from Zhao Shiming and demonstrated the close historical relationship between Bai language and Chinese,He pointed out the value and significance of Bai language research,and for the first time put forward the overall concept of Bai language research as a specialized academic field.
