Vasiliy Mikhaylovich Alekseyev is a famous sinologist in Russia. His Sinological research methods are of methodological significance to today’s cross-cultural research. In 1907, he visited Mount Tai and left detailed records about it. In the records, Alekseyev always takes comparison as a conscious research method, and finds the characteristics of Chinese culture in the comparison of Chinese and Russian culture. Adhering to the attitude of cultural relativism, he respects the unique value of Chinese culture and studies Chinese culture on the basis of respect. He adheres to the position of outsideness and loves Chinese culture, but does not give up his cultural position, and reveals the unique phenomenon of Chinese culture. Alekseyev’s research methods are still worthy of our reference today.
