In order to cope with the growing bad public health environment and rampant invasion of various diseases in the 19 th century,the British government set up the position of Medical Officer of Health and strengthened social management to ensure stability.With the development of the British public health system,the duties of the Medical Officer of Health continuously increased,which effectively guaranteed the physical and mental health of the British people.The establishment and development of the post not only perfected the National Health Service system,but also promoted the British development as a welfare state.
