Space Art in Modernist Architecture

现代主义建筑源自以欧洲为中心的西方建筑数千年的发展结晶,其间受到东方建筑和其他文化的周期性和阶段性影响。空间艺术作为建筑的核心和本质观念,却经历着由“本质”到“边界”再回归“本质”的漫长历程。与此同时,无论东、西方,空间艺术的发展都会在官方和民间两个层面演化;无论官方建筑如何在空间艺术的本质与边界之间跳跃与徘徊,民间建筑在空间艺术的发展中却能够长期保持对本质的追求。现代主义建筑的空间艺术,随着现代科技和材料的进步而发展,随着人本主义的觉醒而发展,随着生态理念的加强而发展,随着人们对光的本质认识的深化而发展,随着现象学、符号学、人类学、社会学、结构主义、解构主义和设计科学的开拓而发展,由此构成现代主义建筑的空间艺术在演化过程中多彩而耐人寻味的华章。本文由对空间本质的探讨入手,系统展开现代空间艺术的不同层面,同时对中国当代建筑的空间艺术作出适当评介。

Modernist architecture roots in the thousands of years of development of Western architecture,while also has been influenced by Eastern architecture and cultures.Space art,as the core concept of architecture,has gone from"essence"to"boundary"and then back to"essence".At the same time,both the developments of space art in East and West have evolved at both official and non-governmental levels;no matter how official architecture swayed between the essence and the boundary,folk architecture can always maintain the pursuit of the essence.The space art of modernist architecture has developed with the progress of modern technology and materials,with the awakening of humanism,with the strengthening of ecological concept,with the deepening of people’s understanding of the nature of light,and also with the development of phenomenology,semiotics,anthropology,sociology,structuralism,deconstructionism and design science,which resulted in a diverse and intriguing evolutionary process.This paper begins with the exploration of the nature of space,classifies different aspects of modern space art,and provides suggestions for space art in contemporary Chinese architecture.
