金庸武侠小说面世以来,风靡东南亚数十载,新加坡作为东南亚华文文学重镇,与金庸渊源颇深,在其传播过程中占据重要位置。因报人身份,金庸曾与新加坡报纸合办《东南亚周刊》,连载《素心剑》(后更名《连城诀》),又在当地创办《新明日报》,并早于《明报》连载《笑傲江湖》,是金庸唯一率先在海外连载的小说。金庸武侠小说的传播与接受还有赖于多种媒介的改编,其中,新加坡版剧集《神雕侠侣》得到广泛认可,漫画家黄展鸣所绘漫画被译成多种语言畅销各地。金庸在新加坡产生广泛影响,究其原因,除了小说具有娱乐性和思想性之外,更因蕴含广博的中华传统文化,有助于华人建构文化认同。

Since the martial arts fiction of Jin Yong was published it has been very popular in the South-east Asia for decades and,as a Chinese-language literary city,Singapore is closely related to Jin Yong,occupying an important position in its dissemination.As a newspaperman,Jin Yong ran South-east Asia Weekly with the Singapore-based newspapers,in which he serialized his Su Xin Jian(later changed to Lian Cheng Jue)and he also created Shin Min Daily News and serialised his Xiao’aojianghu,or Swordsman,earlier than Ming Pao,the first serialized novel of Jin Yong’s overseas.The dissemination and acceptance of Jin Yong’s martial arts fiction had to rely on the adaptation through multi-media,including Shendiaoxialüor The Return of the Condor Heroes that was widely recognized and cartoons drawn by Huang Zhanming,a cartoonist,that have been translated into many languages,selling well in many places.The reason why Jin Yong has a wide influence in Singapore is that his fiction carries a vast traditional Chinese culture that helps the overseas Chinese people construct their identity apart from its entertaining and thinking qualities.
