“The Other Voice”:On the Translation and Cross-cultural Transmission of Contemporary Chinese Poetry in the Anglophone World in the New Age

自20世纪80年代以来,中国当代诗坛发展迅猛,各种诗歌流派争锋兴起,异彩纷呈。与此同时,近年来中国现当代诗歌英译本在英美国家的出版数量也呈迅速上升趋势,越来越多的国内外诗人和学者参与到中国当代诗歌的译介和海外传播之中。中国当代诗歌“走出去”是一项复杂的系统工程,不仅涉及翻译的质量,也要考虑译本的国际出版、传播和接受等问题。因此,有必要将中国当代诗歌的翻译置于西方社会文化的宏观语境下考察,探讨中国当代诗歌走出去所涉及的国际出版和跨文化传播等现实问题,分析20世纪80年代以来中国当代诗歌在英美国家的翻译、出版、传播和接受中起到重要作用的社会和文化因素,以便更好地阐释异域文化再生产的复杂性,切实促进和推动中国当代诗歌“走出去”的国际化进程,塑造和建构积极开放的当代中国形象。

Since the 1980s,there has been a rapid development of contemporary Chinese poetry,with various schoolsrivalling with eachother.Meanwhile,the number of modern and contemporary poetry collections published in the Anglophoneworld is also on the rapid rise,with more and more domestic and foreign poetsand scholars taking part in the translation and dissemination of contemporary Chinese poetry in English.The internationalization of contemporary Chinese poetry is a complex systematic project,for it not only involves the quality of poetry translation,but also has to take into consideration such issues as the international publication,dissemination and acceptance of contemporary Chinese poetry in the West.For this reason,it is necessary to place the translation of contemporary Chinese poetry in the macro context of Western culture and society when exploring such important issues as the international publication and cross-cultural transmission of contemporary Chinese poetry,and analyzing the socio-cultural factors that play an important role in the translation and dissemination of contemporary Chinese poetry in the Anglophone world in the New age,so as to better explicate the complexity of cultural reproduction overseas,enhance the internationalizationof contemporary Chinese poetry,and construct the positive image of contemporary China.
