“I studied Chinese history and culture and fell in love with kung fu movies in middle school,”said Hendy Yuniarto.“China’s economy was developing fast,and its international influence kept rising.The Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics tipped the scale,and I knew I had to come to China.”Yuniarto quit his job as a journalist and gave up the beautiful beaches of Yogyakarta in Indonesia six years ago to lecture on Indonesian language and culture at Beijing Foreign Studies University’s(BFSU)School of Asian and African Studies.“Having the ability to introduce Indonesian language and culture to students and help more Chinese people learn about Indonesia makes teaching a meaningful profession,”Yuniarto said.
