A Brief Discussion on Wu Mengfu's A Review of Tongcheng Literary School

吴孟复先生著《桐城文派述论》一书至少有三个方面最为紧要:一则辨明对桐城文派之误读;二则阐明桐城文之真价值;三则表达学术自信之真态度。《桐城文派述论》一书在文学学派研究、学术史研究、文章学研究诸方面均具有显而易见的拓新意义。《桐城文派述论》不仅可以看作“桐城派”研究的第一部专史性的著述,同时也可以看作文章学建构方面颇为重要的一部拓新性著述。

There are at least three most important aspects in A Review of Tongcheng Literary School written by Mr.Wu Mengfu:one is to identify the misunderstanding of Tongcheng Literary School;another is to clarify the true value of Tongcheng literature;the third is to express the true attitude of academic self-confidence.It has innovative significance in the study of literary school,academic history and article science,which can not only be regarded as the first monographic study of Tongcheng School,but also be regarded as an important pioneering work in the construction of article science.
