许杰先生1951—1957年任华东师大中文系首任系主任。在收集相关报刊、档案、回忆录等各类原始史料后,呈现出许杰先生于特定历史境遇中,在聚集人才、建设教学组织、创办系刊《语文教学》等方面所做的大量开创性工作,以此彰显其对于奠定华东师大中文系的发展格局、塑型中文系的人文传统所做出的杰出贡献。更重要的是,揭示许杰先生在个人与时代互动之间的姿态与选择,力求还原1951—1957年中国高等教育变革之一二。

Mr.Xu Jie was the first head of the Chinese Department of East China Normal University from 1951-1957.After collecting various primary historical materials such as relevant newspapers,archives and memoirs,we present the extensive pioneering work done by Mr.Xu Jie in gathering talents,building teaching organizations and founding the departmental journal Language Teaching in a specific historical situation,thus highlighting his outstanding contribution to establishing the development pattern of the Chinese Department of East China Normal University and shaping the humanistic tradition of the Chinese Department.More importantly,it reveals Mr.Xu Jie's posture and choices in the interaction between himself and the times,and seeks to restore one or two of the changes in Chinese higher education from 1951-1957.
