With the intervention of space theory,the carriage is not only a means of transportation,but also an important medium for the generation of space in Jane Austen’s novels.The carriage breaks the limitations of the space of the novel,connects the separated regional spaces in the novels,and promotes the characters to be traveled in different areas.Besides,the carriage participates in the generation of the external space outside the family space in the novels,showing the spatial flow state of women leaving the outside world in order to get rid of family restrictions.As an important symbol of wealth and class,the carriage has also generated a divided social space in the novels,showing the flow and collision between wealth and class.
