阿迪加在其小说《两次暗杀之间》中关注到了当代印度女性的生存状况。传统社会中的印度女性本就饱受欺压,在经济全球化时代,印度女性的处境更是进一步恶化而非好转。同时,阿迪加还敏锐地观察到当代印度女性的内部也出现了分化,"一间自己的屋子"实际上并不是所有印度女性都能享受到的,而更可悲的是这间屋子又根基不稳。印度女性在同现代性的"谈判"中缺乏有力的议价筹码,因而只能在不平等的性别秩序中压抑自我。

In his novel Between the Assassinations,Adiga pays close attention to the living conditions of contemporary Indian women.In the age of economic globalization,the situation of Indian women in the traditional society is getting worse rather than better.At the same time,Adiga also keenly observed that the internal divisions of contemporary Indian women have also appeared."A house of one’s own"is not accessible to all Indian women.More sadly,this house is not built on a solid foundation.Indian women lack powerful bargaining chips in the"negotiation"with modernity,so they can only suppress themselves in the unequal gender order.
