金凯筠《倾城之恋》自我重译研究

On Karen S.Kingsbury’s Self-retranslation of Qing Cheng Zhi Lian

《倾城之恋》在西方文学世界经历了从不温不火到备受青睐的蝶变,其中金凯筠的自我重译起到了重要的推动作用。聚焦《倾城之恋》金凯筠两个译本的差异,基于系统功能语言学框架的语料标注描述金氏修改的内容,涉及词形、词语、词项搭配、前后语言衔接与照应、信息增减、句子结构等问题。研究发现,金凯筠的自我重译是朝着提高译文的质量、顺应读者的阅读习惯而努力的,其动因主要包括出版语境的影响、读者主体性的推动以及译文优化的驱使。金氏自我重译的成功也从侧面印证了重译的意义和价值。

Qing Cheng Zhi Lian has undergone a dramatic transformation from poor reception to great popularity in the Western literary world,in which Karen S.Kingsbury’s self-retranslation has played a crucial role.With focus on the differences between the two translations of Qing Cheng Zhi Lian by Kingsbury,the present paper describes her revisions based on the corpus annotation in the framework of systemic functional linguistics,involving but not limited to word forms,words,collocations,articulation and reference,information addition and subtraction,as well as sentence structure.It is found that Kingsbury’s self-retranslation is directed towards improving the quality of the translation and conforming to the reading habits of the reader,and its motives mainly include the influence of the publishing context,her respect for the reader’s subjectivity and the drive of optimizing translation.The success of Kingsbury’s self-retranslation also confirms the significance and value of retranslation.
