论“新形式主义”的诞生与发展

On the Birth and Development of New Formalism

“新形式主义”这一术语诞生于20世纪80年代末,在诞生至今的30余年里,“新形式主义”先后经历了术语的提出、理论的初步建构、理论的进一步发展等阶段。一方面,“新形式主义”的诞生有其正当性,即反拨了20世纪80年代以来新历史主义和文化研究对文学文本及其形式的偏离。另一方面,“新形式主义”的发展也有其合理性,即顺应了21世纪初西方文论界从文化研究回归文学研究以及从理论回归文学理论的向内转的诉求。

The term New Formalism was born in the late 1980s.In more than 30 years since its birth,New Formalism has gone through the stage of the formulation of term,the initial construction of theory,the further development of theory,etc.on one side,the birth of New Formalism has its legitimacy;that is,it has deviated from the literary text and its form from the new historicism and cultural research since the 1980s.on the other side,the development of New Formalism also has its rationality;that is,it conforms to the demand for Western literary theory from cultural research to literary research and from theory to literary theory at the beginning of the century.
