Discussion about Wang Kaiyun’s Thought of Poetic and Study of Confucian Classics and the Internal Connections Between the Two Fields

王闿运是晚清著名的经学家、文学家,其诗学、经学思想颇具特色,别是一家。他的诗歌理论充分肯定真情的价值、特别讲究言情之微妙,视治心为诗歌价值所在。作为今文经学家,他又特别强调治礼的意义与价值,体现出融合今古文的特点。其经学、诗学思想的内在联结在于王闿运的"自治"思想,王氏以"自治"观念统领其学说,融会贯通了诗学与经学。

Wang Kaiyun is a famous Confucian scholar and litterateur scholar in late Qing Dynasty. His thoughts of poetic and study of Confucian classic have his own special characters. In his poetic theory, he gives sufficient affirmation to the value of true feelings, and devotes particular care to the subtlety between words and feelings. He treats the cultivating one’s mind as the value of poetics. As a scholar of modern text Confucian classics, he especially stresses the significance and value of lecturing and studying etiquette, which shows the features of his theory of fusing modern text and ancient text Confucian classics.The internal connection between his thoughts of poetics and study of Confucian classics is in his thought of Self-discipline. His view of Self-discipline leads his theories and is well versed in his poetics and study of Confucian classics.
