文华师生与近代中国图书馆学翻译——以《文华图书馆学专科学校季刊》为中心的考察 被引量:3

摘要 文华师生是近代中国图书馆学翻译的重要群体。韦棣华女士奠定的文华根基,沈祖荣校长的开拓创新,毛坤和徐家麟等人的通力合作,尤其是《文华图书馆学专科学校季刊》对翻译的重视,促进了文华师生图书馆学翻译团队的形成。文章分析该刊译者群体、汉译文献主题、汉译文献年度变化及其衍生译著,展现了文华师生在图书馆学翻译方面良好的组织性和系统性。文华师生注重对西方图书馆史、目录学、图书分类与编目、图书馆利用法、图书馆行政及财政等主题著作的翻译,尤其致力于考察公共图书馆在民众教育和社会文化发展中的地位和作用。文华师生图书馆学翻译的价值在于:加速了中国近代图书馆学学科建设的步伐,培养和训练了一批图书馆学专业领袖人才,促进了中外图书馆学学术交流与合作,推动了近代中国社会文化进步。 The teachers and students of Boone Library School played a key role in the translation of foreign library science in modern China.The support and promotion of Miss Mary Elizabeth Wood,Samuel T.Y.Seng,Mao Koan,James Chia-ling Hsu and other teachers,as well as the publishing of Boone Library School Quarterly,led to the shaping of the translator team in Boone Library School.This paper makes an analysis of the Chinese translations of foreign library science published in Boone Library School Quarterly,focusing on the translators,the topics,the quantities published each year,and the subsequently published monographs.The result shows that Boone Library School translators paid much attention to Western library history,bibliography,classification and catalogue,library administration and finance,etc.,aiming to show the important role of public libraries in mass education and social cultural development.Such Chinese translations of foreign library science not only accelerated the founding of Chinese library science,educated a group of library science talents,expedited international communication,but also gave impetus to social transition and cultural transmutation in modern China.
