As one of the ten world classical fairy tales,the Beauty and the Beast has long been adapted to movies of all kinds.Compared with the well-known latest Hollywood live action movie adaptation,the 2014 French live action movie adaptation directed by Christpohe Gans gives priority to the representations of roses which serve as a crucial element of the plot in the original tale.Through incorporating the traditional and contemporary cultural contexts,this movie has used the image of roses to re-plot,re-characterize and re-theme the story.The varied rose colors and rose spaces shown in the movie have enriched the cultural connotations of the flower and infused the current feminist and ecological thoughts to the ancient tale.
