The barbarian seat,as a microcosm of Western exotica,became the substantial beginning of ancient Chinese high profile furniture,which survived in the profound Chinese cultural system and continued to change the original habits of the Han people,eventually changing its own form in the process.The purpose of this thesis is to explore the influence of the barbarian seat on Chinese culture through an account of its historical and cultural background.
