Amina’s Voice,a children’s book written by Hena Khan who is a Pakistani-American female author, tells the story with the spatial writing structure. It emphasizes the space where the story happens but not the time clue. From the perspective of Cognitive Spatial Poetics, this paper attempts to analyze the psychological and cognitive change of American minorities from a loss and anxiety of their self-identity to recognition and acceptance, the process that their ethnic belonging becomes enhanced and the process of social assimilation and minority integration under the impact of the mainstream culture in the following three spaces:physical space, psychological space and social space. In this way, this paper reveals that only by facing up to the complexity of their identity and accelerating the threshold process can American minorities construct new identities and pursue a new life.
