五四前后中国先进分子对现代化道路的思考发端于对西方文明的追求、激荡于对西方资本主义制度的批判、成熟于社会主义现代化价值目标的确立,在政治、经济、文化和社会四个维度有着丰富的内涵,对当代中国特色社会主义现代化建设有着深刻的启示。当前,推进社会主义现代化建设须坚持科学社会主义发展方向、把握当下社会发展阶段的具体实际、借鉴吸收世界各国的先进经验、树立全人类共同发展的理念。

The thoughts of China’s road of modernization by Chinese advanced intellectuals before and after the May Fourth Movement were born in their pursuit of Western civilization,grew in their criticisms of the Western capitalist system,and matured in their establishment of the value goal of socialist modernization.Those thoughts have rich connotations in the four dimensions of politics,economy,culture and society,and offer valuable lessons to the modernization of socialism with Chinese characteristics.At the present times,to promote socialist modernization,we must adhere to the scientific socialist development,understand the specific reality of the current social development stage,learn from the advanced experience of all countries in the world,and establish the concept of common development of all mankind.
