The modernity of Ling Shuhua’s children novels highlights in opening up a pure,full of human nature and children characteristics but slightly flawed poetic space under the influence of Zhou Zuoren,with the modern view of children’s orientation as the guidance,emphasizing the independence and pure beauty of the children,adopting the true lyrical way which children favor.She may write directly about children’s lives,showing their double lives of happiness and sadness or examine the adult’s world with the children’s perspective and criticize the customary bad habits among adults with children-oriented view,and may prompt the crushing of adult’s orientation against children,which breaks through the single limit of writing only about children’s joys in terms of children novels.And she has realized the transformation of initial flowering linear narrative from the May 4th to the nonlinear,diverse narrative and has extended out more performance space for children novels and has reflected the strong modern consciousness and the modern color.In her children’s novels,she also pays attention to children’s future development and worries about the possible irrationality in their developmental process.She appeals to modernity and reflects on modernity,which makes the modernity of her children’s novels better than that of Lin Huiyin,Zhang Zhaohe and Zhang Xiuya who all belong to Beijing school.
