王定国解《易》象例析论

On Wang Dingguo's Approach to the Changes

清人王定国对汉代象数学多有批评,但其解《易》理路与汉易并无本质不同。他继承了传统的“互体”说和吴澄的“肖某经卦”说、来知德的“大象”说论八卦之象,将吴澄的卦变体系改造为“阴阳升降”说,在虞翻“旁通”说的基础上发展出“体用往来”说,并试图以此通解《周易》。这些象例既为解说卦爻辞提供了极大便利,也使其易学暴露出芜杂、随意的弊病。

The Qing(1636-1912)scholar Wang Dingguo criticized a lot about the Han(206BCE-220CE)tradition of image-numerology.However,his hermeneutic approach to the Changes was not fundamentally different from the Han tradition.He inherited the traditional theory of“overlapping”,Wu Cheng’s(1249-1333)theory of“similarity to some trigram”,Lai Zhide’s(1525-1604)theory of“general image”to demonstrate images of the eight trigrams and transformed Wu Cheng’s(1249-1333)system of hexagram changes to the theory of rising and falling of yin and yang,developed the theory of going and coming,ti(conceptual body)and yong(function)on the basis of Yu Fan’s(164-233)theory of“lateral linkage”to thoroughly interpret the Yijing.These approaches can not only provide great convenience for explaining hexagram and line statements,but also expose the disadvantages of miscellaneous and random of his Changes scholarship.
