英国东方学视域中的《大唐西域记》翻译与研究

On the Translation and Study of Datang Xiyuji from the Perspective of British Oriental Studies

本文主要采用文化翻译和历史文本分析相结合的研究方法,对《大唐西域记》这部中国古代文化典籍在英国东方学界的翻译与研究史进行简略的追溯与回顾,重点考察英国学者毕尔和瓦特斯的《大唐西域记》英译本对古代西域文化的译介与研究,比较分析《大唐西域记》这两部重要的英译本在跨文化传播中的翻译策略和特征,最后探讨英国基于《大唐西域记》英译本对古代印度等进行的相关研究及其影响。通过这一研究,在“一带一路”的发展中更好地传承和弘扬丝路精神,积极推动和促进中西文明之间的对话与交流。

This paper mainly adopts the research methods of combining cultural translation and historical text analysis to briefly present and review the translation and research history of the Chinese classic Datang Xiyuji in British oriental academia.It focuses on the English translations of Datang Xiyuji by the British scholars Samuel Beal and Thomas Watters,makes a comparative analysis of the translation strategies and characteristics of these two important English versions in cross-cultural communication,and finally discusses the relevant research on ancient India based on these two translations and their influence.It is hoped that the study of the translation and study of Datang Xiyuji in Britain can help carry forward the spirit of the Silk Road,and promote dialogue and exchanges between Chinese and Western civilizations in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.
