欧美汉学界的中国近代翻译文学研究

The Study of Early Modern Chinese Literary Translation by Euro-American Sinologists

欧美汉学家对中国近代翻译文学的关注近年来日益升温,包括李欧梵、刘禾、王德威、邓腾克在内的学者从许多不同视角考察了中国近代翻译文学。学者们对中国近代翻译文学的研究可以大致分为三大方面:翻译史的梳理和对翻译家的介绍;探讨翻译文学与本土创作的密切关系;探讨近代翻译文学对中国近现代文化的深远影响。这些研究有一些共同的特点,即结合西方最新理论进行探讨;在没有使用理论的情况下,采取独特的视角和开阔的视野进行考察;不是单纯地关注翻译文本,而是关注其背后的政治、文化意义。欧美汉学家们的中国近代翻译文学研究极具启发性,但是也有局限性,具体体现在研究总量不多,还没有穷尽中国近代翻译文学的全部内容,并且偏向于研究翻译文学所反映出的政治、社会、文化问题,而对作为文学的翻译文本关注不够。

Euro-American Sinologists have become increasingly concerned with early modern Chinese literary translation.Scholars including Leo Oufan Lee,Lydia He Liu,David Derwei Wang,and Kirk Denton have examined the field from various perspectives.Their research can roughly be divided into three aspects:offering the history of translation at that time and introducing translators,examining the close relationship between translated literature and indigenous creation,and discussing the far-reaching impact of early modern translation on modern and contemporary Chinese culture.These studies have some common characteristics such as using the latest Western theories to explore literary translation,or adopting a certain innovative methodological framework.They also take a unique perspective for their investigation;rather than simply focusing on the translated text,they pay close attention to the political cultural significance behind it.These studies are very revealing,but they have their own limitations:the total number of such studies is still low.There still remains many aspects to be delved into.Also,their preference of political,social and cultural issues sometimes impairs them to the literary values of those translated texts.
