In recent years,the international community has been facing a series of severe challenges to the global environment as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged as another alarm bell from nature to humanity.At the general debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly held in September,Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed a Global Development Initiative aiming to steer global development toward a new stage of balanced,coordinated,and inclusive growth.He called on the international community to accelerate implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and pursue more robust,greener,and more balanced global development.“We should stay committed to harmony between man and nature,”Xi stressed.“We need to improve global environmental governance,actively respond to climate change,and create a community of life for man and nature.”
