中国古典诗歌英译的框架语义学视角——以唐诗《春怨》英译本为例

A frame semantics perspective to the English translation of classical Chinese poetry:English versions of Tang poetry A Complaint in Spring as a case study

中国古典诗歌是我国古典文学的精粹,其翻译历来是一大难题。框架语义学认为,理解语言的基础是理解认知框架,而语言表达式可以激活认知框架。文章以唐诗《春怨》三个英译本为例,从框架语义学视角对古典诗歌英译给出认知解释。分析结果表明:较好的译文所选词语能较好地激活原诗词语所导引的隐含意义,即意象框架元素。通过译例分析可以看出,框架语义学对古典诗歌核心词汇的英译有一定的解释力。

As the essence of classical Chinese literature,the translation of classical Chinese poetry has been always a difficult issue.Frame Semantics holds that linguistic meaning depends on cognitive frame,and linguistic expression serves as the trigger or anchor to activate cognitive frame.The paper sets out to apply frame semantics to the study of three English versions of A Complaint in Spring.The results indicate that the better translation of linguistic expression can better activate connotational meaning of the poetry,which is also called image frame element.This study strongly supports that frame semantics is of great explanation ability in classical Chinese poetry translation.
