In recent years, there have been large-scale jellyfish outbreaks in the Bohai Sea in summer, which have greatly affected the water intake for cold source of nuclear power station and threatened the normal operation. In this study, a fixed-point acoustic monitoring system for nuclear power cold-source organisms based on the horizontal beam method by echosounder was designed and developed, and set up in caisson of the water intake of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant. Real-time monitoring experiments were conducted from June to September 2019 on jellyfish and other cold-source organisms entering the intake with the current. The acoustic data were processed and analysed using Echoview for calculation of daily average SV and average TS to calculate daily average flux at the monitoring point.
