元人选元诗注重保存资料,达到以诗存人、以诗存史的目的。编选的目的性很强,包括全国性总集、地域文学、遗民诗人、文学家族、围绕个人的倡和与集咏、歌咏名胜、书画鉴赏等内容,涉及范围广,体现了极大的丰富性。元人选元诗多有名人参与,他们或是诗歌活动的组织者、总集的编选者,或参与筛选、评论、作序。元人选元诗采取开放式的编撰方式,具有随得随编随刊的特点。时间上以元代后期最为繁盛,刊刻地点多在东南地区。

The selected poems of Yuan Dynasty pay attention to the preservation of data, to achieve the purpose of poetry and history. The purpose of the compilation and selection is very strong, including the national collection, regional literature, the poet of the people, the literary family, the advocacy and collection around the individual, the singing of places of interest, the appreciation of calligraphy and painting, and so on. Most of the Yuan poems are attended by famous people. They are the organizers of the poetry activities, the compilers of the anthology, or participate in screening, commenting and preface. Yuan candidates adopts an open compilation method, with the characteristics of accompanying publication. These works are published mostly in the southeast region during the boom years of the late Yuan Dynasty.
