Percy Goestschius was one of the most famous American music theorists in the early 20th century,and the publications of his composition theory had an important influence on Chinese music composition and music theory in the 20th century.This article embarks on the background and the content of the translation of Gocstschius’composition theory by Miao Tianrui,to explore the unique feature of Miao’s transla-tion and the significance of those publications in China.
