In the Train,Alice Munro reproduces the postwar historical and cultural context of Canada in the 20 th century and its impact on the fate of individuals who are on the edge of society. For marginalized individuals, war causes overwhelming traumatic experience, intermingling intergenerational trauma, emotional trauma and war trauma and resulting in trauma accumulation and their abnormal runaways.Through the mirrored comparison of the traumatic narrative of two marginalized individuals and the reconstruction of their unique traumatic memory,Munro not only explores the ways of recovering from trauma, expresses her concern about the universal traumatic experience in modern life, but also highlights its realistic significance for the current society.
