Objective To investigate the interpersonal conflict management pattern and psychological resilience level of medical staff on the clinical frontline of fighting coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),and to analyze the correlation between them. Methods Ninety medical staffs on the clinical frontline of fighting COVID-19 were enrolled, among whom a questionnaire survey was conducted using the interpersonal conflict management pattern scale and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC).The scores for all dimensions of the interpersonal conflict management pattern scale and the total score on CD-RISC were compared between medical staff with different features.Pearson or Spearman test was used to analyze the correlation between the scores on the interpersonal conflict management pattern scale and CD-RISC scores among medical staff.Results(1)The scores for compromising, avoiding, dominating, and integrating dimensions on the interpersonal conflict management pattern scale were 2.75±0.59,2.59±0.62,2.41±0.62,and 2.39±0.51,respectively,which were at lower levels. Those with older age or with a higher educational level yielded higher scores for integrating dimension, those with a higher educational level yielded higher scores for dominating and compromising dimensions(all P<0.05);there was statistically significant difference in the score for avoiding dimension between medical staff with different marital status(P<0.05),wherein the divorced got the highest score for avoiding dimension, followed by the single, and the married got the lowest score for avoiding dimension.(2)The total score on CD-RISC was 62.18±16.64,and the scores for resilience,self-improvement,and optimism dimensions were 31.02±9.24,21.80±5.77,and 9.36±3.01,respectively;no statistically significant difference was found in the CD-RISC scores between male and female medical staff, between medical staff in different age groups,or between medical staff with different educational levels, with different marital status, with different working years, with different professional titles,or with different monthly incomes(all P>0.05).(3)Among medical staff on the clinical frontline of fighting COVID-19,the scores for integrating, dominating, and avoiding dimensions on the interpersonal conflict management pattern scale negatively correlated with the total score on CD-RISC(all P<0.05);whereas the score for compromising dimension did not linearly correlate with the scores for all dimensions on CD-RISC or the total score(all P>0.05).Conclusion Medical staff on the clinical frontline of fighting COVID-19 yield lower scores for all dimensions on the interpersonal conflict management pattern, but are at a high psychological resilience level.Medical staff with a higher psychological resilience level are less inclined to use the integrating, dominating and avoiding styles to deal with interpersonal conflicts.
