Military fortress settlements are the product of wars in the frontier regions of ancient China.With the end of the Cold Weapon Era,the decline of military fortress settlements has become an inevitable historical development.However,in the context of contemporary emphasis on the protection of historical and cultural heritage,such settlements arouse extreme great concern.The article revolves around t he different functions undertaken by the Zuoyun Area in different eras,and reveals the changes in Zuoyun’s military settlements:in the war years,Zuoyun Fortress was mainly responsible for military functions,and its settlements were mainly defensive.In the peaceful era,with the collapse of the Ming Great Wall system,Zuo Yun’s business function gradually developed,and its future development model is worth exploring.
