Cooperative learning is a new teaching theory and teaching strategy,which is widely used in basic education.It emphasizes that on the premise of heterogeneous grouping and clear division of labor,students develop their comprehensive language ability through participation,experience,practice,cooperation and communication.This paper introduces the characteristics of cooperative learning mode,discusses the role of cooperative learning in English teaching,analyzes the problems existing in cooperative learning in English teaching,and discusses the application strategies of cooperative learning in English teaching,so as to improve teaching efficiency and teaching quality and students'English core competence.
