A Centennial Review of and Prospect for Marxist Historiography in China

20世纪初期,马克思主义史学思想传入中国后,马克思主义史学工作者结合中国历史实际,在唯物史观的指导下,致力于探寻中国社会历史发展的规律,形成了与封建史学、资本主义史学截然不同的理论研究方法,并长期引领中国史学正确的研究方向。尽管在这一百年历程中,马克思主义史学经历了诸多曲折和危机,也留下了很多历史教训,但成就是巨大的,始终呈现出旺盛的生命力。目前,面对西方史学思想的冲击,马克思主义史学工作者要坚持独立自信的史学观念,避开“西方中心主义”的干扰,回归马克思主义文本本身,厘清唯物史观重要概念和问题,注重重大理论建构,开拓宏观视野,多关照现实问题,积极构建具有中国特色、中国形态的马克思主义史学理论研究话语体系。

Since the introduction of Marxist historiography into China in the early 20th century,Marxist historiographers in China have been committed to exploring the inherent law of Chinese social historical development under the guidance of historical materialism while combining with the reality of the history of China.As a result,Chinese scholars have nurtured a distinct theoretical approach to historiographical studies different from those adopted by capitalist or feudal historiographers,one that has been leading Chinese historiographical research forward in the right direction.Although Marxist historiography has experienced many twists and turns or even crisis moments in the course of its one hundred years of development,it has witnessed enormous achievements and displayed ever-growing vitality.At present,confronted with the impact of Western historiographical thoughts,Marxist historians and historiographers should take it upon themselves to adhere to a correct historiographical view based on independence and self-confidence,steer clear of the interference of“Western-centric”ideologies,re-visit Marxist text per se,clarify the important concepts and issues in historical materialism,pay attention to major theoretical formulations,expand the macro scope of research while addressing practical problems,and actively construct a discourse system of Marxist historiography with Chinese characteristics and modality.
