在汉字"家"词义的演变过程中,根据其构词能力可将其词义变化分为四个阶段:本义(居所)、作为单音节词时的词义派生(有一定血脉联系的组织、出生或自幼居住的地方、国家等)、在复音词中的语素义(凡尘俗世之家、经营某种行业的人家或具有某种身份的人)以及作为词缀时的用法。从词义演变的过程中能进一步归纳出"家"的文化内涵:个人私有、血脉联系、情感寄托等,"宀"下有"豕"、何以为"家"也可从其文化内涵中窥探一二。
