Cultural Connotation of Hibiscus syriacus and its Application in Landscaping

木槿是中国传统园林花卉,具有生命力顽强、花期长、观赏价值高等优势。木槿乡野特色明显,历史地位低下,因夏秋季开花和单朵花朝开暮落、全株花开续相继等特点被赋予积极作为、永不言败、坚贞不屈的品格,在中国花卉史上文化内涵丰富。通过梳理木槿文化内涵,探讨了木槿在园林绿化中的应用。

Hibiscus syriacus is a traditional Chinese garden flower with strong vitality,long flowering period and high ornamental value.Compared with other flowers,their rural characteristics are obvious so their historical status is not high,but because of each flower opens only one day and flowers bloom one after another,they are considered to have qualities of positivity,tenacity and gritty,continously formed a rich cultural connotation in Chinese flower history.Through excavating the cultural connotation of hibiscus,this paper discusses its application in landscaping.
