As the first general history of biography in China,Historical Records is also the supreme model of Chinese biography literature,which is highly respected and studied by the world.Liu Zongyuan’s biographical articles set up biographies for the lower-class people and praised them.He made comments in or at the end of the article to express his sustenance.He integrated his sense of life experience into other people’s biographies,and advocated“purity”and“strangeness”for the articles.All those reflected his inheritance and development of Historical Records.Liu Zongyuan’s respect and learning from Historical Records is not only the way for Liu zongyuan to improve his writing,but also the key to promote the canonization of Sima Qian’s Historical Records.
