This paper introduces the complex layout characteristics of Nam Ngum-4 Hydropower Station with the longest headrace tunnel and the highest design water head in Laos,and summarizes the key points and difficulty points that should be paid attention to in the survey and design process of long diversion,small flow and high water head hydropower stations.The basic design report of the project has been approved by Lao government in 2020 and is expected to be put into operation in 2023.
