A Study of MAO Zedong′s Comments on SIMA Guang and His Greatest Work Zi Zhi Tong Jian(History as a Mirror)

毛泽东在论司马光时认为:王安石要变法,而司马光反对;王安石和司马光是互相尊重的;《资治通鉴》是司马光在政治上不得志的境遇中写出的。毛泽东认为《资治通鉴》是一项“大工程”和一部“大书”。毛泽东称赞《资治通鉴》写得好:开宗明义、叙事有法、兴衰治乱本末毕具、大的“相砍书”。毛泽东认为《资治通鉴》的立场观点是封建统治阶级的,要批判地读这本书。

According to Chairman MAO Zedong in his comments about SIMA Guang,the Prime Minister of the Northern Song Dynasty and a great writer:WANG Anshi planned to make reforms while SIMA Guang objected.However,they showed each other enough respect in their life.The famous history book Zi Zhi Tong Jian(History as a Mirror)was well-written and accomplished when SIMA Guang was politically frustrated,said MAO,Zi Zhi Tong Jian(History as a Mirror)was regarded as"a great success and a significant book".It made clear the purpose and was organized with logic,being titled"Xiang Kan Shu(a book about wars)".On the other hand,the standpoint showed in the book is typically of feudal ruling class,which should be taken with criticism.
